WATERFALLS
The sensory pleasure of water affects the ears, the eyes and the nose as well as touch. The soothing sounds of nature’s music is nowhere as apparent as in the sound of water trickling over rocks, burbling through fissures and splashing rythmically as it cascades through the air.

THE CASCADES
Take 460 West of Blacksburg approx. 15 miles to the town of Pembroke. Turn right on Route 63 and follow 3.5 miles to parking area.
A 66 foot drop off a sheer cliff makes this one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Virginia. The view along the way makes this moderately ambitious trail well worth the hike. A fully stocked trout stream and scenic picnicking areas offer up a memorable visit.
From the Cascades take the trail that leads from the base up the bank. At 0.1 miles turn right and follow the road for 0.4 miles to the fork. Take the right fork and hike through a rhododendron tunnel to the top of the falls.
Few people know about this sister to the Cascades. Far smaller than the lower Cascade it offers spectacular views for those willing to climb a short distance to its bank.
DISMAL FALLS
Take exit 98 from I-81. Go North on VA-100 11.6 miles turn left on VA-42. Go 10.1 miles and turn right on SR-606. Go 1 mile and turn right onto route 671. A half mile after the pavement ends there is a sign and pull off for the falls on the right side of the road.
Located only 80 yards from the road this is an easily accessible falls that makes up in beauty what it lacks in size. Its large pool is the perfect spot for a summer swim.
BENT MOUNTAIN
Exit 141 off I-81 to US 419 to US 221 South. Go right onto Route 644. At 1.1 miles bear right at the fork onto Route 669. Go 1.4 miles turn right - staying on Route 669. Take an immediate left after the bridge over Bottom Creek. The gravel road leads to the gate and parking area.
Dropping 200 feet into Bottom Creek makes these falls the second highest waterfall in Virginia. Home to many rare plants life the waterfall and surrounding area are maintained by the Nature Conservatory
FALLS RIDGE
Exit 128 off I-81 and head West on North Fork Road 6.9 miles. Turn left onto a private bridge, cross over the North Fork Roanoke River. Continue across the railroad tracks and take an immediate left. then follow the dirt road 3 miles. Take the left fork and park at the gate near a large field.
In addition to the main waterfall are several smaller, beautiful falls viewable along the half mile of looping trail. Also not to be missed are the numerous shallow caves, huge rock outcroppings and breath-taking views.
STYLES FALLS
Take Route 11 North toward Shawsville. Turn right onto Allegheny Springs Road, just past Meadowbrook Branch Library. Go 6.1 miles to camp entrance.
This 45 foot high waterfall is located on private land so a call (540-268-2409) for permission to hike is necessary. An easy 4 mile trail takes one through the meadow, along Purgatory Creek and across a valley to the Falls.
BRUSH CREEK & WHITE OAK CREEK
Take I-81 to I-77 North. Take exit 14 off I-77 and head East on Route 7 0.1 mile. Turn left on Eads Mill Road and follow 3.3 miles to Brush Creek Road on right. Parking area is .3 miles in.
Located in Pipestem Resort State Park Brush Creek falls features a river-wide drop of nearly 25 feet and is accessible from a .27 mile trail.
Featuring a single drop of 40 feet and several smaller drops White Oak Creek falls is located a little over a mile along the old road past Brush Creek Falls. The Falls can be viewed from the bend in the road but a clearer view can be had after a challenging scramble over the rocks near the creek.
